The Mystery Behind The 100% Silk Tie
When people decide to buy a silk tie, they can either go to a men's store or just click online. They could discover a confused phenomenon: even all labeled with a 100% silk content tag, it has a wide price range.
What is the mystery behind the 100% men’s silk tie? Let us consider some price-determined factors would give you a better idea as to why this phenomenon occurs.
Brand name is one of the most essential factors for the price. If premium brand names are considered, the price could be over $70 or way more. It is truly hard to weigh the brand factor exactly and more individual preference in it. Because most of the men’s silk ties are within the range of $5 - $70, those silk neckties are the focus of our discussion.
Two of the major production hubs are Italy and China. Italy is famous for its exceptional design and China provides a larger proportion of men’s silk ties in the world with a cheaper price.
With the extensive use of high end fabric woven machine, there is not much disparity on the quality from both countries. ...
... Some bigger men’s silk tie manufacturers in China cooperate with Italian silk tie design studio so men’s silk ties are a global product now.
In the present silk tie market, there exist three thread densities: 960, 1200, and more. Nearly all high quality men’s silk ties are 1200 or more. The less density has a loose fabric feel so it can be recognized by the touch of a hand. Pricewise, it is cheaper with a lower density.
Inlay is the textile wrapped inside the outer silk. It makes a tie heavier and drapes better. Two key inlay fabrics are polyester and wool. Polyester is more commonly used for its durability and cheaper cost. The inlay material cannot be read through the fabric tag.
Lining is the backside of the men’s silk ties for both large end and small end. Those fabrics can be the similar silk fabric as the front face or polyester. As you know, the former is a little pricier.
Men’s silk ties can be grouped into two categories based on the coloring methods: printed and woven. The printed silk tie means that the designs are printed onto the raw silk fabric with screen-printing. Each color must have a different screen printed.
More colorful the patterns, more the printing work and more the cost. So the solid color printed silk tie is cheaper than the others. The woven silk tie comes from the weaving procedure through warp and weft.
The woven threads have pre-dyed colors so that any designs can be fashioned from striped to parsley. The pattern can be designed with professional software and woven by a computer-controlled weaving machine.
The men’s silk tie manufacturing method is becoming more established with the mass production development. By and large, the brand name men’s silk ties, not luxury one, are around $70.
The identical quality without famous brand costs you around $30 to $40 in the department store. The matching quality made in Italy is generally $10 more expensive than the one made in China.
Online shopping will save you at least $10 with the same silk tie. If you are serious about the quality of your neckties, don't consider the men’s silk tie under $10 unless they are really good deals.
