Worldwide Global Abortion Rates: Facts Vs Fiction

Abortion has been there for decades. In fact, it is legal in most countries. In some countries like Ireland though, abortion is still illegal while most countries allow abortion. Of course, there are some limitations and women cannot undergo abortion whenever she wishes. The problem today is that women are undergoing abortion for reasons they are not supposed to.
What do the stats say?
Around 536,000 women die every year from pregnancy related causes. More, it has been seen that children without mothers are more likely to die prematurely. When it comes to abortions, there have been some shocking results which have not only changed the mindset of the people about abortions but also enlightened people about the dreadful effects of the process.
Outdo the law
Irrespective of the fact whether abortions are legal in a particular country or are punishable under the law, abortions are taking place. In countries where it is legal, there are less mortality rates and the abortions done are safe. However, in countries where abortion is a punishable offense, abortions are still being done but by unsafe means. By doing ...
... this, people have not only surpassed the rules and regulations but have also endangered the lives of the mothers. The reported mortality rates following unsafe abortion procedures are much higher than when done safely.
The socio-economic burden
It was found that a women's chances of opting for an abortion are much more higher when she belongs to a low socio-economic status, especially in developing countries. This is mainly because of the fact that it is very difficult for parents to feed a large family when the economic conditions are not good. What adds to their misery is when they come to know that the unborn child is a female. In haste the parents go in for abortions without knowing its side effects on the overall health of the pregnant lady.
Unsafe abortions
It is thought today that the reason behind a mother's death in the under developed or developing countries is not that the abortions are illegal. The main reason is that the conditions in which abortions are done are not safe. It has been postulated that this condition might not improve even if the abortions are legalized because the healthcare facilities are going to remain the same.
It has become mandatory today that people are taught about the ill effects of abortions and the methods to prevent unwanted pregnancies.
