How To Maintain Windows Media Player Playlist
Media players come in a wide selection. The typical media player for a computer using a Windows operating system is Windows Media Player. This player typically plays .wma files that are saved on the computer. As more media files are acquired and added to the computer they can quickly become disorganized. A media library can grow from a single file to hundreds very quickly depending upon how many movies or shows may be downloaded or recorded on a regular basis.
Regular maintenance of files on a computer is incredibly helpful in keeping the computer operating smoothly and efficiently. Maintenance may have a variety of meanings but generally just means ‘cleaning up'. As video files are created and added through normal computer use, a number of them aren't particularly important and seem to do more taking up hard drive space than being supportive to an application on the computer. The most well-known approach to removing files is to locate the file in its folder location. From this point, the file can be right-clicked to bring up a menu of possible options. From here, select ‘Delete' to get rid of the ...
... file from the folder. This method is very sluggish if many files are to be removed.
A quick stop at www.hothotsoftware.com to search ‘How to Delete Windows Media Player Files Software' will bring up a fantastic piece of software for video file organization. This software operates entirely within a single window, eliminating any chance of getting mixed up or lost while using the software. This window is divided into three main sections. The top section is to add any files to the playlist that you will be working from. These files may be added individually through the ‘Add File(s)' button or the software can look through a folder for any files of specific type. These files will be included in the playlist found in the bottom right area of the window. The bottom left area of the window displays a small video player to preview any selected videos. This is convenient so that any videos can be checked for content before they are deleted. The bottom of the window lists seven different commands for the playlist you are working in. The first command is to delete any files to the recycle bin. This means that the files will be taken from your playlist and also deleted from their folder on the computer. To the right are ‘Stop', ‘Next', and ‘Previous' commands that control video progression through the playlist. These commands act similar to these same commands in a conventional video player. The bottom list of commands first has an ‘Add to Playlist' command. This just includes files from the top area into the playlist in the bottom section. Next to this is a ‘Delete from Playlist' button and ‘Clear Playlist' button. The first button just removes files from the playlist but not from the computer as a whole. The last button clears out the entire playlist.
