The Thierry Mugler Story
His Early Years
Mugler was born in 1950 in the town of Strasbourg, France. While he did well during his school years, he was always more interested in the artistic side of things. Drawing, design and photography were always of great interest to him, so he left Strasbourg when he was 24 years old in order to begin his career as a fashion designer. After working in a Paris boutique for a couple of years, he took his skill across Europe and worked for fashion manufacturers in places like Milan and even Barcelona, gaining experience as he went.
First Accomplishments
Mugler's very first creation was a line of clothing that he called "Café de Paris", which was known for its contemporary urban style. With much popularity and a backing by his fans, his career continued for several years. While not straying from his love of designing, Mugler released his first photography book in 1988 and a monograph in 1999. This monograph, called "Fashion Fetish Fantasy", was a collection of all of the works he had designed over the years, and quickly became popular among Mugler's ...
... fans.
A Fragrant Beginning
Of course, anyone who is familiar with Thierry Mugler knows he certainly didn't stop there. His very first fragrance creation, Angel perfume, was highly regarded immediately upon release. Its combination of chocolate, praline and patchouli aromas was unlike anything previously available, and the bottle in the shape of a faceted star was the icing on the cake. He later went on to develop dozens of other fragrances, including Amen perfume and Pure Havane. Each of these is still a best seller today.
Later Projects and Developments
After having realized quite a bit of success during his career, Mugler was invited to create compositions for a film called "Perfume" that was directed by Tom Twyker in 2006. For this, more than 15 new compositions were created in a boxed set. Later, in 2007, this inspired him to create the "Mirror, Mirror" line of products that is still incredibly popular today. The line includes five very unique fragrances designed to enhance the wearer's personality by scent alone.
While Thierry Mugler has changed the name of his brand on occasion and recently hired a new creative director by the name of David Koma, his products, including Angel Perfume, Amen Perfume and Pure Havane, are still enjoying strong sales, and are expected to remain popular for many years to come.
RESOURCE BOX: Thierry Mugler is a famous French-born fashion designer, fragrance and cosmetics developer, and photographer who has had a successful career from the start. Fragrances like Pure Havane, Amen Perfume and Angel Perfume are just a few examples of his creativity.
