The awards combine the average price paid and five-year total cost of ownership data from TrueCar.com with the U.S. News Best Car ranking data. Based on the car's performance, interior features and interior comfort from the automotive press, and combined with reliability data from J.D. Power and Associates and safety data from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety.

Coming in at number 3 out of 11 Upscale Small Cars is the 2013 Buick Verano. The score was determined based on an analysis of 35 published reviews and test drives, as well as U.S. News analysis of reliability and safety data.
