Having good vision and good eyesight is very important to our every day lives. It is a very difficult thing to have our eyesight bog down on us and hinder so many of the functions of day to day living that have to be tended to. Not to mention the toll on a persons health. It is important then to assure that good eyesight and vision health is maintained.

Of all the things that can affect people, it is the food that they eat that may be the most important. Many times at present, people tend to sacrifice their health without even knowing it because of the food they eat. Without even knowing it too, eyesight and vision suffer just the same because of the improper food that people consume on a daily basis.

There have been studies of late that discovered a link between the food people eat and their vision. These studies found out that not only to some foods maintain the health and well-being of peoples eyesight; they even have the capacity to promote treatment and correction for those that do need it.

The best thing that people can do for their eyesight is to eat healthy food. The rule of thumb ...
... is to eat a variety of food with different colors each day. This assures that the proper vitamins and minerals are taken in and used for vision improvement and general health and well being. Taking note too of the colors of the food consumed is beneficial. Generally deep colored food likes reds, oranges, dark greens and browns work to nourish the eyes and keep them healthy. Fruits and vegetables that are high in antioxidants are also very good at maintaining and improving vision health.

If there are foods that must be taken regularly, there are those too that must be avoided since they do not give any benefit to vision health. Steer clear of sugars, caffeine and alcohol. These substances and foods dry up the body, making the body unable to lubricate the eyes and keep them at optimum health.

Vision maintenance and improvement is something that people tend to put low in their list of priorities. It is only when vision breaks down that it is realized just how important it is.
