Golden Triangle of North India comprises of three major cities - Delhi, Agra, and Jaipur. These destinations have been carefully chosen to provide best vacation experience to tourists who are in India for only a week or less. The trio represents three vital cities with individualistic traits yet sharing a cultural and historical thread that binds them together. The three are also interconnected with domestic airline services, allowing you to fly to each of these destinations to complete the circuit in a shorter period too.

Delhi and Mumbai are India's two most popular landing spots for foreign tourists. Delhi is the Capital of India and represents the heart of North India. Delhi has been the stage of political drama for centuries now. In the days of monarchy, rulers used to pull strings at Delhi and could affect the peace of any desired region all over India. The power struggles at Delhi determined the stability of the entire Indian subcontinent. Qutub Minar stands as the testimony of his Islamic victory in the region. Qutub-ud-Din Aibak, the first Muslim ruler of Delhi, ordered its construction on the lines of Minaret ...
... of Jam in Afghanistan. However, he could only complete its first storey. Iltutmish added three more storeys to it and Firoz Shah Tughlaq constructed the fifth and the last storey of Qutub Minar.

Moghul rulers built extensive and outstanding monuments all over Delhi during their reign such as Red Fort, Jama Masjid and Humayun's Tomb. There are several features of Red Fort that charms foreign tourists to its massive precincts. Chandni Chowk, the biggest Asian market today, was developed as a semi-circle market while Red Fort was being built. Its narrow lanes are specialized for their wares. Its delicacies and rickshaw ride often earn rave reviews from Westerners who find this colorful market quite exotic and emblematic of Indian culture and secularism. There are New Delhi charms too that showcase the development of the city under British Raj and has wide avenues, green spaces, Rasthrapati Bhawan or President's House with Moghul Gardens and India Gate.

Next stop of the Golden Triangle is Agra, the city of glorious Taj Mahal - the most favored tourist destination in India and one of the Seven Wonders of the World. Emperor Shah Jahan was known to have a harem and several wives. However, he was so enamored by his queen Mumtaz Mahal that he could not help himself from fulfilling her last wish and built a multi-million mausoleum for her to immortalize their romance. Mumtaz Mahal used to accompany Shah Jahan in all his war campaigns and gave birth to seventeen children in all. Their love was so touching that Shah Jahan's son Aurangzeb, who is famous as a cruel one and murdered his brothers after shaming them in public, allowed his father to be held captive in a room from where he could see Taj Mahal to his dying day.

Jaipur is the third and last stopover of the Golden Triangle tours circuit. While Delhi introduces you to glamour and sophistication of Moghul and British rulers and Agra takes you on a journey of exploration of the grace and intricacies of Moghul architecture, Jaipur stands as a symbol of rugged and hardcore aesthetics of Rajputana architectural style. True to the spirit of the warrior clan, Jaipur forts, palaces and monuments have lavish interiors with delicate latticework, filigree work and frescoes but dominating exteriors that dare enemies to come close. Hawa Mahal, City Palace, Amber Fort, and Jantar Mantar are some of the gems of Jaipur that you must see.
