The condition is known as tinnitus. The symptoms include what sounds like a buzzing or ringing sound. While it not be a life-threatening disease, it does definitely affect the quality of life of the sufferer.

In most cases, it is not even noted when the symptoms appear. Many people mistake the illusion of sound for reality, and only realize it much later on. To add to the confusion, the symptoms are not always present at first. It starts off as an intermittent appearance, and only becomes constant after a while.

Due to the fact that it affects your hearing, it tends to make conversation difficult. This could become embarrassing in some situations, and even annoying in others. Imagine the inconvenience of having to ask someone to speak up while you are at a funeral, or in a library. Using the telephone becomes a challenge, especially if you end up with a caller speaking softly.

To make matters worse, the constant irritation can become bad enough to affect your concentration at times. If you happen to work in a place where loud noise is the norm, it is of no consequence. However, for those working in administrative ...
... positions, it can cause enough of a distraction to cause mistakes.

For many, the worst symptom is probably the added difficulty in going to sleep. The constant irritation makes it difficult to relax, and, especially at first, it is difficult to ignore. The sufferer lies awake much longer than would usually be the case, eventually falling asleep from sheer exhaustion.

Despite the opinion of many physicians, tinnitus can be addressed. It can be treated, and it is possible to restore the sufferer's quality of life. It does not require any drugs, or weird unproven theories. It has been done, and the basis for the success has been scientifically established.

While it has not been widely published in medical journals, it has been successfully implemented in many cases, and continues to be a viable solution for many sufferers. It has worked for many other people just like yourself, and it will most likely work for you.
