Ulcerative Colitis Treatment
Ulcerative colitis is a disease that causes chronic inflammation and ulcers in the lining of the large intestine. The inflammation usually occurs in the rectum and the lower part of the colon, but it may affect the entire colon. The colon is an integral part of the digestive system where waste material is stored. Due to the inflammation and ulcers in the inner lining of the colon, it causes the colon to empty more often and leads to symptoms of abdominal pain, diarrhea and rectal bleeding. Ulcerative colitis is frequently referred to as inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) and affects approximately 500,000 to 2 million people in the United States. The disease affects men and women equally and appears to run in the family. It commonly begins between ages 15 and 30, or less commonly between 50 and 70. It currently does not have a cure.
There are theories as to what causes ulcerative colitis, but none have yet to be proven. However, it is known that ulcerative colitis is not contagious. The most popular and well believed theory is that the immune system reacts to a virus or bacterium by causing inflammation in the intestinal ...
... wall. Doctors have found that people with ulcerative colitis have abnormalities with their immune system, but don't know if the abnormalities are a cause or a result of the disease. The inflammation occurs within the wall tissue where the activation of the immune system occurs. Normally, the activation of the immune system only occurs when the harmful invaders are present. However, with ulcerative colitis, the immune system is abnormally and chronically activated in the absence of any known invader. Doctors do believe that ulcerative colitis is not caused by emotional distress or sensitivity to specific foods or products, but act as triggers for the disease among some of its victims.
The most common symptoms of ulcerative colitis are abdominal pain and bloody diarrhea. Ulcerative colitis patients also will experience fatigue, weight loss, loss of appetite, rectal bleeding and loss of body fluids and nutrients. About half of all patients have mild symptoms. However, more severe cases suffer frequent fevers, bloody diarrhea, nausea and severe abdominal cramps. Variability of symptoms reflects differences in the extent of the disease, as well as the intensity of the inflammation. Ulcerative colitis can also cause major problems such as arthritis, inflammation of the eye, liver disease (hepatitis, cirrhosis and primary sclerosing cholangitis), osteoporosis, skin rashes, and anemia. No one knows for sure why problems occur outside of the colon, but scientists think these complications may occur when the immune system triggers inflammation in other parts of the body.
Treatment for ulcerative colitis varies, but most people are usually prescribed medications. In the more severe cases, patients may require surgery to remove the diseased colon. Traditional Western medical professionals often view surgery as a cure, but they tend to agree that it should only be considered in the most serious cases, when all other possibilities have been exhausted. People whose symptoms are triggered by certain foods are able to control the symptoms up to a point by avoiding those foods. AloeElite can help lengthen periods of remission by naturally supporting the immune system and bringing the body to a more normal level of functionality.
AloeElite is a healing supplement that benefits every cell, tissue and organ in the body. The healing ingredient in AloeElite, Aloe Mucilaginous Polysaccharide, goes to work as a potent anti-inflammatory. It will help eliminate diarrhea, bring the body back to a more normal functionality, act as an intercellular antioxidant, and it will rebuild and repair the protective mucosa lining throughout the digestive tract and mends the damaged tissue in the colon. Most people who use AloeElite have moderate to severe ulcerative colitis and have a 97 to 98 percent success rate.
