What Is Ray Tracing?
In simplest terms, ray tracing is a technique for production of views of a virtual three dimensional scene on a computer. It is a common hidden-surface method of removing and it attempts to imitate the original physical effects connected with the propagation of light.
Physics of light: Let us forget about computers for some time and get into the branch of physics called as optics. At the basic level, we will be able to see objects when light bounces off the surfaces of these objects and get in contact with our eyes. Light is actually a form of radiant energy and solar cells operate because of this energy falling on them can be changed to electrical energy. When focus is given on the rays of light from the sun with the help of a magnifying glass, it will be possible to set a piece of paper on fire. Light can be considered as being composed of particles or waves and this is the classic wave-particle. The issue pertaining to the nature of light began in the 17th century. On one side, experts were talking that the light is made out of fast-moving corpuscles. The important thing to mention here is that Isaac Newton was a part ...
... of this group. Wave theorists were on the opposite side and these people thought of light as a wave.
When talking about computer graphics, it is a method for the generation of image by recording the path of light via pixels in an image plane and motivating the effects of its encounters with virtual objects. This method is capable of letting out high degree of visual realism, generally higher than that of typical scanline rendering techniques, but a higher cost of computation. This makes the process highly suitable for use, where the picture can be rendered slowly ahead of time. There is a method called reverse ray tracing, which is a reversal to this technique.
There are software programs meant for reflector design and these programs will be of great help to the firms engaged in the production of reflector lights. The best programs make use of time-saving interface for graphical representation of a light distribution curves and optical system combined with a mechanism for comparison of differently calculated data. Reflector design software programs are highly essential these days as many reflector illuminants are manufactured these days.
The physics of reverse ray tracing is also gaining importance these days and all these things can be effectively carried out by software programs meant for this purpose.
Here at Reflector-design.com, the concept of point light source is in detail explained with mathematical description as a solution based on the ray tube intensity calculations. To download the version of full description, visit website.
