The first step is to de-clutter before you make attempts to pack anything. Start by packing the least important things early, so you aren't left packing everything at the last minute. Obviously you will need a good selection of packing boxes and supplies as well. It is easy to remember the boxes but many people forget other essentials such as packing tape and marker pens to label the boxes with. It's a good idea to write the name of the room each box is going into on the box, and to enclose it with a box so it is easy to see. You can colour code the packing boxes if you wish but it isn't really important to do so. It just means you have more marker pens to manage!

Invest in a tape gun if you can, and plenty of clear tape to use with it. This makes the process of making up and sealing boxes much easier than it would otherwise be. Keep the boxes stacked in each room and they will be taken to the appropriate rooms on arrival for you to unpack later. Remember to do a final sweep of the property before you move out, to ensure nothing is left behind. You should also think about packing up everything in any garden buildings you have, not to mention the garage. These are still rooms essentially, and yet some people tend to forget about them until the last minute.

As you can see there is a lot to think about when you are packing to move to a new property. The more thought you give to it in advance the easier it will be to achieve the end result you want.
