In part one we got to know the importance of fat soluble vitamins for healthy hair and scalp. This article will deal with importance of dietary water soluble vitamins and variety of foods which have ample content of water soluble vitamins in it.

Water soluble vitamins include vit C and B. Vitamin B complex are further classified into B12, B2, B5, B3, B6, B1, folic acid and biotin.

All of these vitamins have a pivotal role to play for having healthy hair. It decreases the hair fall problem and improves the quality of hair by making it thicker and stronger.

Vitamin B2: It is required for hair to remain healthy as well as strong. Deficiency of this vitamin will lead to problem of hair loss. Rich vitamin B2 sources are dairy products and brewer's yeast.

Vitamin B3: Vit B3 strengthens hair and keeps it healthy. Vitamin B3 dietary source is wheat germ.

Vitamin B5: Vit B5 helps in avoiding hair greying and loss of hair. A dietary source is whole grain cereals which is rich with this vitamin.

Vitamin B12: Vit B12 deficiency causes pernicious anemia leading to problem of hair loss. A dietary source of Vitamin B12 is milk. In fact milk is the only source of vit B12 among the vegetarian sources and therefore individuals who are strict vegans develop deficiency of this vitamin over sometime.

Biotin: It is known to be vitamin H as it is immensely helpful. Deficiency of this vitamin leads to dryness and brittleness of hair. Sources of biotin are brown rice, walnuts, lentils, soy beans, bananas, mushrooms, brewer's yeast, sunflower seeds, oats, green peas, cauliflower and legumes.

Vitamin C: Vit C prevents hair from breakages and increases hair strength. Due to its antioxidant property it prevents hair from radical damage. Foods with rich source of vitamin C are carrots, leafy green, kiwi, red pepper, green pepper, oranges, lemons, broccoli, lime, sprouts, brussels, grape fruit, strawberry and pineapple.

An individual does not need to worry about the side effects arising due to excessive consumption of water soluble vitamin as they do not have any toxic property. Even though the intake of these water soluble vitamins are in great amount they can be emitted through urine easily.

The consumption of these supplements do not affect body thereby one can go ahead and include food having vitamin sources in their daily diets.
