The crossbow increased the velocity and strength of a traditional bow and used a smaller arrow. These are still used today either in archery competitions or for hunting. Generally, crossbows were made from wood, iron or steel, but today, manufacturers formulate them from carbon and different metal alloys.

Of all primitive weapons, the crossbow is probably the least understood by hunters and the public. There is a great deal of animosity against crossbows in many bow-hunting circles. From personal pint of view we can tell that Crossbows are relatively easy to use and don't require the archer to be highly skilled. This is especially useful when hunting deer having highly sensitive hearing and can be scared away at the slightest sound. There are some crossbow's most significant advantages that make the ability to make very precise hits on close-range game.

Advantages:

• Less strength is needed to cock crossbows with heavy draw weights than bows of similar weights provided that a string or wind-up cocking device is used with the crossbow.

• You can hold a crossbow and shoot from a rest on target indefinitely ...
... without tiring the arm.

• Crossbows use a unique arrow, known as a bolt that weighs more than standard arrows.

• These are more accurate and more powerful than traditional bows.

• It can be used freely as the walking speed is not affected while the crossbow is made ready.

• The Crossbows fire projectiles at a higher velocity compared to most bows, which makes them better for hitting moving targets.

• Explosive varieties also include exploding bolts in each of the three elements.

• The Enhanced variety ignores 50% of enemy armor.

Important things to keep in mind while hunting:

Shot-Angle Restrictions:

Right-handed crossbow owners who use face-the-tree position tree stands have shot angles that are restricted to a 45-degree arc on the left side of their stands. Trying any other position will put them in contact with the tree or requires them to shoot from their other shoulder.

Killing Power:

On potentially dangerous game this is a very tense time as even a second hit on a bear or boar with a crossbow arrow may not result in a charge-closing shot. This is the vital reason to make sure that the first shot is deadly.

Hunting Heavy Cover:

The best approach while hunting is to grab the crossbow by a limb holding it over the back and plow through. If you must pass through heavy cover, then you should remove the arrow from your bow and put it in a secure shiver and slip a heavy rubber band around the shafts to prevent them from slipping out until you are through the thick stuff.

Uncorking the Crossbow:

The recommended method of uncorking many crossbows is to put a target point on an arrow and shoot it into soft ground.

These are all from my experience with the crossbow from Bcstore.co.uk. If you are a serious hunter looking for a competitive-priced and high-performance crossbow, then there are many varieties of crossbows available for you. Try it and have a wonderful experience with hunting.
