I was looking to buy my grandmother something really nice for what would have been her 75th wedding anniversary if my granddad hadn't died a few years back. Every year on June 4th she gets really depressed, so I thought it'd be nice to do. I didn't have any money though, so I thought maybe I could get some by selling jewellery. At first I tried to go to a local jewellers with my unwanted gold items, but they didn't offer me what I thought it was worth.

I looked around on the internet and found a few places that specialised in selling jewellery, so I decided I would give that a try instead. They sent me a free envelope and even insured the gold I mailed in, so it was a hassle free and pleasant experience. My wife had been a bit hesitant, but after I got a nice big cheque to buy grandma a great present, she wanted to try her hand at selling jewellery too.

My wife has a lot of gold she never uses, so she got an even bigger cheque than I did. Soon we had all our friends selling jewellery online too. And I can't say I blame them for it. I mean, what's the point of hoarding all that gold when you could get something ...
... useful with it? And there's nothing more useful than cold hard cash, which is what you get for selling jewellery on the internet.

My wife used the money that she got from selling jewellery to buy herself newer pieces that, I must admit, looked much nicer than her old clunky stuff from the 1970s. I think that sort of defeats the point, but she told me that it was her money and she could do what she wanted with it. And I suppose she's right!
