The way in which apprenticeships and traineeships are defined generally is based on the jurisdiction in which they lie. Some nations have a clear distinction between the two types of vocational education. While in some countries, one term is used for other. Generally, the difference depends on the type of trade discussed and the number of years needed for completion of the program. It also depends on the way in which educational experience is arranged and the method in which the programs are subsidized.

Each country located in different parts of the world, has its own history with respect to vocational education. In some countries, people taking apprenticeship programs are provided education under the guidance of an expert as these countries have a strong tradition of trade-based apprenticeships. For instance, Australia is such a country, where in good many companies are offering apprenticeships and traineeships on different trades for interested candidates. These companies act as the link between the organizations and job seekers by providing the former with the right talents and the latter with the right job opportunity.

When ...
... this is the case of Australia, in some countries people depend mostly on government-sponsored occupational training activities, wherein the learners are provided with both on-the-job and classroom training. These statements clearly state that the actual difference between these two terms are not actually universally established.

Generally, these two things are differentiated by the type of work covered by each. The traditional trade oriented jobs are still referred to as apprenticeships. On the other hand, service-oriented vocational education is called as traineeship. For instance, trades like carpenter, electrician, chef and mechanic are called as apprenticeship, while training in business, hospitality and retail industries are called as traineeship jobs.

Another difference between these two things in countries like Australia is the length of time take for completion of each of them. In some places, office apprenticeships will take around three to four years to complete, while traineeship will take around a year or two. The shorter period denotes the service-based nature of work for which traineeship jobs are offered.

For people looking for both these things in Australia, there are good companies conducting the programs. Apprenticeship is conducted in different trades, while traineeship is offered in areas like business, information technology, business administration, financial services, etc.….

All it takes is the interested candidates should carefully select such a service provider as the first step towards their dream career in any trade of their interest.
