Nokia E70 has a controversial design but its features are top-notch. This handset generally inherits the user interface of Nokia Series 60. So if you are familiar with Nokia 6800, 6820, and E61, then you will have a comfortable experience using the E70. Here are the key features of Nokia E70:

Main Features
a. 6 lines graphical TFT display with 16M colours.
b. Folding QUERTY keyboard
c. 3G and WiFi connectivity plus USB, infrared and Bluetooth
d. 8x digital zoom for both camera and video
e. Blackberry connectivity
f. 75 megabytes built-in memory with mini-SD card slot
g. 7 hours talk time and more than 200 hours stand by time.

Looks and Design

When folded, the Nokia E70 is not a good looking device at all, and it will definitely not catch your attention. The back panel is so smooth and lacks sophisticated designs.

However, you may find the magiconce you open it. The soft touch keypad features an elaborate design punctuated by its silver finish. The display screen sits in between the two separate keypads so you can enjoy maximum visibility even tough the ...
... device is very small.

The E70 is rather bulky because of the QUERTY keypad but it may give you a solid feeling. The plastic casing is highly durable and you will not feel and hear any squeak or creak when you open it.

Opening the handset is fairly easy. Just grab the numeric keypad and pull it out towards the display screen. You must rotate the keypad until you hear a familiar click and the QUERTY keyboard is now ready to use. The display automatically adjusts to landscape orientation when you use the QUERTY.

Display Quality and User Interface

Nokia E70 sports a 2.1-inch, TFT screen with 352x416 pixel that provides clear and crisp graphics and colours. The device can detect natural light environment and it automatically adjusts the brightness and contrast of the main screen and keypad backlight.

The menu features a 3x4 matrix grid when closed but will automatically switch to a 4x3 matrix grid when you open the keyboard. However, you can easily customize the display menu if you want. Navigation is very easy as the phone uses coloured icons to display the different functions and menus.

Multimedia Features

Nokia E70 is equipped with a decent 2-MP digital camera that can produce fine colours and fast processing. It has a night mode option, digital compression, fully adjustable colour tone and white balancing. It cannot compete with other high end camera phones but would be enough for taking outdoor shots.

The video department of Nokia E70 is excellent. It captures excellent videos at its CIF 352x288 pixels resolution. The strength of its capture device is the digital zoom feature which can create lively videos.

Aside from its camera and video, Nokia E70 also has a built-in MP3 player and MPEG4 video playback as well as Java based games.

Connectivity Features

Nokia E70 offers full connectivity features as it supports EDGE and GPRS networks. It also has a well implemented WiFi connectivity. Bluetooth 1.2 is also available on the device as well as pop port for infrared. The device is also capable of accessing WEP and WPA encrypted networks.

With the above packed technology, web browsing, emailing and downloading are not a problem at all for the Nokia E70. The handset is very stable in this department and you will not experience performance issues when browsing the web.

Overall, Nokia E70 is solidly built with stable system. Its design however is very basic but it can be compensated by the handset's rich features.
