Tina Turbin, author, women's issues advocate, children's book author and more, has been busy in the kitchen developing gluten-free diet recipes with her gluten-free staff and friends. (http://TinaTurbin.com/) She is also co-producing her new children's music CD (all proceeds will go to charity), working with award winning artists and is currently on her East Coast Book Tour for the "Danny the Dragon" book series. Along the way, she takes time to read to children at libraries, hospitals and schools.

While on the tour, she stopped by the Shriners Hospital to read to the children. To her surprise most of the kids she visited were from all over the world for the Shriners intimate care. Shriners Hospitals caters to children under 18 who require care for orthopedic conditions, burns, spinal cord injuries, and cleft lip and palate; accepts no payment from parents or insurance companies; and all their money is raised by donations and the hard work of the Shriners.

... creative and made their own book with Tina to leave in the hospital library. They entitled their combined-efforts book, "Danny and Friends" to go with Tina's book, "Danny the Dragon Meets Jimmy".

She explained that the knowledge she gained following the book activity, with a tour of the hospital, truly opened her eyes to the many needs and other various ways to help out more in society. "It was an amazing day, to say the least," stated Tina. While depicting the photos from this event Tina stated, "This beautiful little girl sitting in the wagon next to me did not yet have legs -- yet -- but she handled this with pride, and in her own way. She hid an assortment of chocolate puddings, bags of candy and three cans of Gatorade, as well as all sorts of stuffed animals tucked under her blanket that was covering her legs. I am smiling at her [in the photo] as she had taken a break from our coloring to get a bit too much pudding on her face rather than in her tummy. She was a charm and the Shriners employees were truly amazing with all these kids!" Tina brings as much magic to life as her book, "Danny the Dragon Meets Jimmy".

The book is now entered in the third annual Moonbeam Children's Book Awards 2009 for placement in the top three and in its own category. It was also in such book exhibits as American Library Association, London Book Fair, Frankfurt Book Fair, Bologna Book Fair and more with rave success. The book is truly a wonderful journey for both young and old.

This month, Danny the Dragon was in Book Expo America! This was an amazing book Expo which took place in New York this year. It is an incredible opportunity for authors to have their books entered and to make wonderful connections, which Tina did.

As you can see from above, Tina Turbin not only takes from what life has to offer, but gives back much more and from her heart. Tina Turbin is truly a caring woman and a humanitarian. Stay tuned in for the additional adventures of Tina Turbin.
