Get Ready For The Brand New Apple Amac Pro
I know a lot of you have been waiting for quite some time, the day when the new Mac Pro finally came out. Back in June, we were given a preview of it at Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference. The company said it would ship “later this year”. And here we are, at the very end of 2013, we got to see the real model. What may surprise you is the unique design that makes it much smaller and prettier. You may wonder, does this new Mac Pro is awesome enough to be a professional’s Mac? Let’s take a look, shall we?
First, let’s look at the design. The brand new cylinder design has been described as resembling everything from a small beer keg to a jet engine to a kitchen composter. The cylinder is just 9.9 inches tall and just 6.6 inches in diameter. With this stunning Mac Pro, people would love to put it on their desks, instead of under their desks. How can Apple put everything in such a small cube and still make it real good? Compared to the previous one, you must have the same question as I do. Because the new model is only 1/8 the size of the 2012 Mac Pro. But it’s true; the new Mac Pro offers better components.
Take ...
... a look at the cylinder, and you’ll notice what’s on it: four USB 3.0 ports, six Thunderbolt 2 ports, two gigabit ethernet ports, an HDMI 1.4 port, a 1/8-inch analog/optical-digital line-out jack, and a 1/8-inch headphone/headset jack.
The new Mac Pro has a unified thermal core. Inside the Mac Pro is a triangular hunk of metal that acts as both a heat sink and the central structure. The inside of the triangle looks like a traditional heat sink. It services the entire computer. Apple says the design allows the components to share the core’s thermal efficiency, as it pulls heat away from each of those components and distributes it evenly across the core. Even when working hard, the outside of the Mac Pro will only feel warm.
At the heart of the new Mac Pro lies a single Xeon-class Ivy Bridge E processor with up to 12 cores, paired with dual AMD FirePro graphics chips. PCI Express flash storage offers data transfer rates of up to 1250 MB/s, while four-channel DDR3 EEC memory running at 1866 MHz delivers up to 60 GB/s of memory bandwidth.
Basic pricing and configuration options were announced during Apple’s October 22 media event and confirmed following Apple’s December 19 release. The Mac Pro starts at $2,999, offering a 3.7 Ghz quad-core Intel Xeon E5 processor, dual AMD FirePro D300 GPUs, 12 GB of memory, and 256 GB of PCIe-based flash storage. The 3.5 Ghz 6-core version with 16 GB of memory starts at $3,999, with additional configure-to-order options for 8-core or 12-core Xeon E5 processors, AMD FirePro D700 GPUs, up to 64 GB of memory and up to 1 TB of flash storage.
Apple’s new Mac Pro marks a significant milestone for Apple, as it represents the return of Mac production to the United States. Do you have any interest in this professional workhorse dressed up in a stunning high-design package? I’m sure it won’t disappoint you.
