They have been involved in movements that aimed at cutting down the use of plastics which hampers the environment and even minimizing the use of energy consumption as well. Some of the key highlights of activities that Wipro has indulged in are as follows.

• The six educational projects offered by Wipro have helped more than 70,000 children.
• They have five healthcare projects that have helped more than 50,000 people in accessing health facilities.
• Their social forestry project has helped almost 40 farmers get their livelihood.
• They have helped victims of various disaster programs. TamilNadu, Bihar and Karnataka are three areas where Wipro has done significant disaster mitigation work.

Wipro and NGOs Working Towards a Sustainable Goal

Wipro has been teaming up with a lot of NGO to carry out the right set of sustainable development activities. With Makkalajagriti, Wipro has been offering a holistic, after school, safe environment for kids to grow and evolve. It has led to reduction in dropout rate and more students are opting for secondary education. From 2006 to 2008, more than 350+ children in and around Bangalore have enrolled in the institute and availed these services.

Wipro also works with Ez Vidya and has helped in making unique curriculum for the school children. More than 100 students have benefitted from the programs. The programs are conducted in a weekly manner. There are other similar NGOs too that have been working in close association with Wipro to offer sustainable teaching programs and improve the educational outlook of students. Wipro has partnered with Swadhar and Each One Teach one too.

Wipro has been an inspiration and every person needs to do their bit and it is only with sustainable development that we can prolong the duration for which life can survive on this blue planet. If we remain ignorant of the harm we have done, the carrying capacity of earth would soon be crossed leaving the environment unsuitable for life.
