Nicolas Ivanoff, a podiatrist in EC2, shares with us his thoughts on his career working with the feet, and takes us on a journey from his beginnings in Paris to working as a podiatrist in EC2.
"Firstly, let me explain what exactly it is that I do" Nicolas begins. "I am a podiatrist and chiropodist, which means I am a professional who looks after the base of your body, namely your feet."
Nicolas continues "There is sometimes confusion amongst people outside the health professions as to what the difference between a chiropodist and a podiatrist".
"Officially there is no difference between the two, however recently the term podiatry has become more commonly used, as it refers to the assessment of foot disorders to diagnose and treat a large range of foot pathologies" Nicolas explains.
Coming to work as a podiatrist in EC2, in the centre of one of the world's greatest cities, has been a gradual path for Nicolas Ivanoff.
"I graduated in Paris in 2005 after four years of training ...
... at the most prestigious school of Podiatry in Paris (Assas). Throughout my training I gained extensive medical knowledge from hospitals and clinics".
Nicolas then broadened his experience by working across London and Paris to develop his expertise and realise his ambition to run his own clinic, and this led him to his current clinic as a podiatrist in EC2.
"Since graduating I have worked in various environments as a podiatrist and in 2006 I created my own clinic Feet By Pody to provide my services to patients in several locations across London and Paris. I have gradually stopped working in Paris to concentrate full-time on my work in London including my practice as a podiatrist in EC2."
