Most foot pain falls into one of two areas; the heel or the ball of the foot. However if there is a problem with the arch there could also be pain in the middle of the foot. The trouble with foot problems is that they often cause pain in another area altogether rather than the foot itself. You could have bad knee pain or back pain that has its origin in the feet.

The only way to find out for sure is to consult with a trained podiatrist. They will be able to assess your feet and stance to find out if there is a problem with the feet. Very often, if the arch is not giving the right support your ankles will roll inwards. This is highly likely to give you knee or back pain as the tendons try to compensate to support you, even if there is no pain in the arch.

Other pain in the foot can be caused by things such as corns or plantar warts. Corns don’t only grow on the toes, they can be under the feet as well. However, it is often a wart that is causing the problem; it is just that warts in that area get trodden down so they don’t always look like warts. They just look like a corn or a red area that is painful.

Bunions ...
... are another thing that causes painful feet and you really need professional help and advice to get rid of them. Orthotics can be really helpful in giving the right support for weakened muscles and ligaments. These are inserts that go into your shoes, but you have to have the right kind for your problem so you should not just try generic inserts.

Pain in feet does not go away of its own accord. It is the one thing that can deprive you of your independence as if you cannot walk freely you just can’t get around. You won’t be able to do your shopping or go out for entertainment or to meet friends. That is why it is so important to get onto the problem straight away instead of putting up with it.

It is important to your overall health to remain active, but you will find it difficult to exercise if you are in pain with your feet, your back or your knees all the time. So don’t delay but be proactive in seeking help to make your life more interesting and healthier.
