Not everyone is familiar with Skywest Airlines, but they've been providing regional service to many American cities for almost four decades now. Skywest has been able to increase the areas it serves by partnering with various other regional airlines. In 1972 when Ralph Atkin started Skywest Airlines in Utah only two cities were served: St. George and Salt Lake City. The hundreds of business travelers who frequented this route were their main business. Increased flights and destinations were made possible by partnering with larger airlines through the years including Air Tran, United, Delta and, most recently, Alaska Airlines, and now over 100 cities in Canada and the United States are serviced by Skywest Airlines. Skywest Airlines has recently added Alaska Airlines to the group of airlines it works with. This means more flights to destinations such as Seattle, Portland, Fresno and Santa Barbara. May, 2011 marked the beginning of this new affiliation. In addition to their numerous flights in the Western part of the U.S. and Alaska, Alaska Airlines offers special packages to such vacation destinations as Puerto Vallarta, Mexico; four of the Islands of Hawaii; Disneyland in California; and a Whistler Ski Packages - which was the site for many of the 2010 Winter Olympics events. Skywest now is partnering with five other regional carriers with the addition of Alaska Airlines. This greatly increases the choices passengers have when they need to book a flight with a regional carrier.

In addition to being partnered with Delta and United, two major airlines, Skywest Airlines now owns Atlantic Southeast, another regional airline. Atlantic Southeast Airlines has a large website that keeps people updated on its latest offerings and those of its partners. Atlantic Southeast focuses on areas around the Midwest and Southeast regions of the U.S., unlike Skywest who serves the Western areas of America. If you need to fly to Sacramento, San Diego, or San Antonio from the Houston, Texas area, you can now choose ExpressJet, which recently became a subsidiary of Atlantic Southeast Airlines. So Skywest Airlines and its partners offer a wide number of possibilities if you need a regional flight.

The record speaks for itself - Skywest Airlines is one of the best regional airlines and has given its passengers superb service for almost forty years. The larger commercial airlines can conveniently take you to the major airports in, for example, Atlanta, Baltimore, San Francisco, and Chicago, but they sometimes don't fly to the small, regional airports. Atlantic Southeast, ExpressJet, and all of its partners, allows Skywest Airlines to fill the needs of passengers who prefer to travel between the local, regional airfields.
