A Perfect Winter Retreat - Trentino
If you are looking for a perfect winter holiday, then Trentino is the perfect destination for you. Situated in northern Italy at the border of Switzerland and Austria, Trentino is one of the best winter resorts in Italy. With its first class ski circuits, romantic Christmas atmosphere, rich cultural heritage and breathtaking white scenery, winter is an amazing time in Trentino. What more could anyone want from a holiday after all!
Among the tourist attractions of Trentino the most famous one is the Dolomite Mountains. These mountains are known for their skiing circuits. Skiing happens to be the favorite sport around here in the winter . Many tourists come out here to try their hand at the sport and also for the fantastic view the skiing sites provide. Some of the famous circuits are:
Alta Valsugana Panarotta, a skiing area perfect for the family
Panarotta, with 3 skiing trails and elevated slopes perfect for dog sled
Altopiano della paganella, with an amazing landscape and a breathtaking view, and famous for winter sports.
Lake Grada is the place not to be missed. It is an alpine lake formed ...
... nearly ten thousand years ago by glaciers at the end of the last ice age. It happens to be one of the largest lakes in Italy measuring nearly 30 miles long and 10 miles wide.
While touring Trentino, you can ideally start off with Rovereto near the border and then head northeast to Trento ,the local capital. You can proceed further west to the village of Camano known for its thermal waters and then reach the typical village of Tione. From here you can head to the ski resort of Madonna di Campiglio.
If you are in for a drive then you could drive through the alpine roads to catch a glimpse of the medieval spa town of Levico Terme and the Alpine Botanical gardens which have thousands of species of plants. Another attraction is the Adamello-Brenta Natural Park covering about 450kms of mountain path.
Finally a comfortable warm place to live in for the winter is the Alpine Refuge. About 60 of them opened in winter to provide a safe, warm, relaxed and enjoyable stay at the Dolomites. Comfortable with a stunning view, these resorts also provide the delicious traditional cuisine of cheese, mushrooms, sausages , cold meat and sparkling wines.
So, the next time you plan on going for a winter break or when you want to spend your Christmas break doing something fun yet relaxing, you know where to go. Right?
