Christmas is the particular festival which can create a season of lights, candles, colors, cakes and gifts. This is the occasion which brings a lot of smiles, happiness, love and cheerful surroundings for months together. Starting from November all sellers are in hurry to bring varieties of gift items like dresses, Christmas trees, cakes, small bells and many more and sell them at slashed down prices, and people are in hurry to buy as much as they can bear. Though the reduced prices and lots of varieties are the main reason for the shoppers to buy, another major reason is the desire to make their nearest and dearest ones smile with a lovely gift.
Christmas is the most popular festival for kids for the only man called Santa Claus. Santa Claus is also known as Father Christmas or simply Santa. He is an imaginary figure with legendary, historical and mythical origin. He is said to bring gifts for good children on the night of 24th December, before Christmas. Santa Claus is imagined as a fat, jolly and white-bearded old man, sometime with spectacles – wearing a red coat with white cuffs and collar, black boots and belt and ...
... red trousers with white cuffs. He carries a large bag full of gifts for kids. According to history of 1820s, Santa lives at the North Pole, with lots of magical elves, and nine flying reindeers. It is believed that Santa makes a list of children of the whole world, according to their behavior, calm or naughty and gives gifts like sweets, cakes and toys to all well-behaved kids and coal to the naughty ones, on the night of Christmas Eve.
The story of Santa Claus can be traced back hundreds of years to a monk, St. Nicholas. Nicholas was born sometime around 280 A.D. in Patara, in modern Turkey. He was much famous for his goodness and kindness, so St. Nicholas became the issue of many legends. It is said that he gave away all of his wealth and traveled the country to help the poor and sick people. He loved kids very much and gave many gifts to them on Christmas, so today also for him many people dressed themselves like Santa and distribute gifts to children as Christmas is incomplete without Santa and gifts.
In all christen families it is a tradition to distribute gifts between each other, all relatives and friends, especially kids, because a bright smile on a child’s face is a real lighting of any festival. Sometime children start making list of gifts for next Christmas, the next moment the current Christmas is over. A gift on Christmas is a way to express your true feelings for someone. Although sometime gift-giving involves an expectation of reciprocity, a gift should be free always. A small handmade Christmas gift is sometime enough for saying some persons that how much they are special for you, so enjoy every Christmas with your family and friends with many gifts and delight.
