Why Custom Name Tags Work So Well
When you are dealing with employees in restaurants or department stores, you obviously feel a connection with them when you know their name. Being able to address someone by their first name benefits both employer and consumer in more ways that first thought. Here are just reasons why custom nametags work so well in the business world.
There have been times in your life when you encountered an employee who treated you harshly or was not helpful in resolving an issue you had. Do you recall if they had Custom Name Tags or not? In most cases, the time you have the most difficulty with an employee is when you cannot identify who that person was. One of the benefits employers have by making name tags for their employees is that you instantly recognize who you are talking to, and the chances diminish greatly they will treat you harshly because their name is on the line. You can easily report an employee if you know their name and this is sometimes a deterrent for them treating you in an unprofessional manner.
On the flip side, if you immediately can identify the employee you are dealing with by first name, it creates ...
... a sort of connection or mutual respect. You tend to treat your friend's better than total strangers. Knowing who you are working with in a store allows you to be more kind or respectful, especially if a problem arises. You will often be a little more patient when you see Bob is struggling at the register, than you would if an anonymous employee was doing the same. The custom nametags or magnetic name tags are a way to connect employee and consumer in a way that opens the door to communication faster, rather than making you feel that you are just another number shopping in their store.
The restaurant business understands all too well the importance of being able to identify your server. When you sit down to eat and can immediately connect with your server, it completely transforms the entire dining experience. You almost feel you are sitting in their home, as their guest, interacting with a dear old friend over dinner. You can most certainly remember a time when you were eating dinner somewhere and had no idea what the servers name was. You felt a little put off when they took your order or brought you food, and the conversation was most likely at a minimum. The Custom Name Tags were missing, and that is the connection that is needed to give both of you a more pleasurable experience. You can remember the name long after the transaction has taken place, and the name tag was the simple reason behind it.
