Reality TV shows have made a grand entry into television world where shows previously showcased were staid and clichéd stories being aired on every possible family channel. When the first reality show was introduced, the concept was completely new and took the TV industry by storm, surprising even the most jaded TV viewer who was bored of watching the same thing all the time. The first ever reality show on television ever was a 12 episode documentary 'An American family' aired in 1973. This show captured moments of love, angst, hatred and playfulness in any family, paving way for other shows based on the same premise.

Reality shows on television is a genre where a set of people or actors who are not as famous are put into situations they either have to overcome or play in without any scripted reactions.
