However, while this is important, it is not the most vital aspect to consider when buying RC helicopters for kids. There are, in fact, various types of these toys that you need to understand in order to know which one is the most appropriate for you. They have specific application, which means that picking the wrong one for your circumstance might only lead to the destruction of the toy or its shorter life. These three (3) types are called coaxial, fixed and collective pitch.
Coaxial for Indoor Plays-
Firstly, the most basic type of RC helicopters for kids is the coaxial. This is commonly being used only in indoors or in places where there are zero wind conditions. It is called as the most naturally stable kind of helicopter. However, this has some limitations too. This kind cannot make a lateral or side to side movement in a fast manner. Hence, they are extremely susceptible from wind dragging. It is the main reason why it is not advisable to be operated in open space. Nevertheless, if you are just beginning ...
... to learn how to operate this kind of toy, this is a good start.
Fixed Pitch for Semi-Sheltered Spaces-
Secondly, another kind of RC helicopters for kids is the fixed pitch (FP). As its name suggest, it has a fixed kind of pitch rotor blade set in order to drive it. It may also have either a brushed or brushless type of motor. Most of these have tail blade that is driven by a second motor. Some people consider this as the stepping stone before operating or playing a collective pitch (CP) type. However, there are also lots of kids and young adults out there who prefer this over CP because of durability.
Collective Pitch for Outdoors-
Thirdly, but never the least, collective pitch is the kind of RC helicopters for kids that are best played outdoors. There are lots of players and RC toys lovers out there who prefer this over the previous types because these are more challenging to operate. Hence, they enjoy playing with it. The space where you can operate this type is also wider since you can play them even outdoors with more than 10 meter per hour (mph) speed of wind. The FP will only be operable if the wind speed outdoors is less than 5 mph.
