Inverter Is A Device That Converts A Dc Voltage To An Ac Voltage
Inverter is a device that converts a DC voltage to an AC voltage. Most common is one that converts 12 volts DC to 120 or 240 VAC 50/60Hz. Basically there are three types of inverters-1.Square wave inverters, 2. Quasi square wave or modified square wave inverters, 3. True/pure sine wave inverters. 1.Square wave- these old fashioned inverters are the cheapest to make but the hardest to use. They just flip the voltage from plus to minus creating a square waveform. They are not very efficient because the square wave has a lot of power in higher harmonics that can not be used by many appliances. 2.Quasi square wave or modified square wave inverters- Quasi square wave or modified square wave actually mean the same thing.
