Bronchial Asthma – Can Be Well Controlled With Ayurvedic Remedies
Symptoms such as chest tightening, excessive coughing, shortness of breath and sudden wheezing clearly reveal that the patient is suffering from one of the most chronic disorders of the respiratory system - bronchial asthma. Many a times it’s genetic, while it can also be caused due to environmental or even chemical agents. One finds great difficulty in breathing, as the inflammation or swelling of the airways poses a blockage and hence, doesn’t allow the person to breathe easily.
Bronchial asthma is closely relevant with allergies and so, are the different triggering factors that favor a sudden asthma attack. Mold, pollen, pet dander, dust mites, tobacco smoke, infections of cold or pneumonia, air pollution, toxins, food additives like MSG, extremely changing temperature exposure, anxiety, emotional stress, perfumes, acid refluxes, smoking, sprays and numerous more are the causes that triggers asthma attack. Intake of few edibles should be avoided to an extent for asthma control. Keeping a patient away from such triggers prove to be of immense help in asthma control. However, when it comes to treatments and cures to asthma, no other than Ayurveda assures the most effective remedies. Herbal medicines like Swaskuthar ras, soothing Vasavleha, and the natural Sitopaladi Choorna, are proven to be the great relieving medicines that are derived from the elements of nature itself.
Ayurveda also suggests few of the effective measures for asthma that can be derived from things generally used by people in their daily life, for example, by using Ajwain, tulsi, Marica and Ginger, one can prepare the herbal tea, which is of immense advantage for asthma relief. Turmeric, Curcuma Longa, herbs like Sirisa, Clove, Triphala, Senna, Harad and Tulsi are highly beneficial for Asthma patients. Pranayama or breathing exercises such as Kapalbhati, Bhastrika, and Agnisara have incredible impacts on bronchial asthma.
Honey has always been treated as a nature’s boon for asthma control by Ayurveda. Keeping the nose close to a mug that contains honey and just inhaling the air above it will help an asthma patient. Patients can also have honey in half proportion with edibles like dates, black raisins, amla, or pippali, and they can be treated with the incredible relaxing impacts of honey.
Mustard oil, another natural product, relaxes an asthma patient once it is applied all over his chest and massaged properly. Benefits can be enhanced if the oil is warmed up to a little temperature. Panchakarma, of which Vaman Chikitsa is the most advisable one, is yet another beneficial way to relieve asthma. Before the onset of monsoon season, it is suggested to undergo this natural treatment.
One of the most chronic troubles to the respiratory system is bronchial asthma. Attacks can be more frequent if the individual is regularly exposed to the triggering factors. Severity of frequent attacks at times can even be to an extent that it leads to a medical emergency. However, if the patient is kept away from the triggers, and by having a bit of knowledge about asthma control at home, one can prevent such emergencies.
