Best Learning For Your Kids
Games model the way that “good” learning happens. From a very early age, we learn more from games and recreational activities, than from classroom tutoring. Preschool teachers and parents use games to teach numbers, colours, names, and shapes; the process is drill and practice. Game engages kids and helps in capturing their attention and focussing it on a fruitful objective. Most games are not designed to be educational, yet they are immersive and offer experiential learning environments. It is also vital to acknowledge that games and learning has a history that predates the advent of modern video games, including a prosperous history in the design of children’s software. This history has taught us several important things, not the least of which is that players determine how they learn.
There’s a lot happening during game time. They are gaining knowledge of fundamental logical concepts, arithmetical concepts and language skills, such as trying out innovative narration skills as children “play out” sundry roles. And when your kids take part in sports with you, they are also understanding that they are treasured ...
... and worthy and a fun companion to play around with. This process leads them to gain societal and emotive abilities which give them the self-belief and assurance they need to keep on building devoted and encouraging relationships throughout their life.
The productivity of any gaming environment lies in the fact that kids are free to discover and create learning and teaching arrangements that work for them. So while it is essential to understand how the concept of gaming helps to support learning, it is equally critical to address how players or kids take on active roles in determining how, when, and why they earn. Thus ‘learning from games’ is considered contributing majorly in a child’s development particularly in a child care centre, nursery school or preschool.
Learning from games for kids gives them the freedom to experiment. For instance it isn’t sufficient that the child can build towers with blocks, but in fact she can engage in a wide array of activities with those blocks, experimenting with uses she has invented for herself. Experimentation would be meaningless without the ability to fail regularly, and the freedom to fail would amount to little, if players were constrained in where they could seek that failure. Thus games help children weave together all the elements of life as they experience it. It allows them to grasp life and make it their own. It is a means for the fullness of their creativity forming a significant part of their childhood.
At ABNS, which is the leading nursery school in Pune, children are indulged in playing a wide assortment of games that are fun to play and help kids learn elementary concepts and values subconsciously. Even their website, http://www.appleblosom.com contains different learning games that can be played with their kids.
