Engine Options In The Jeep Grand Cherokee

The Jeep Grand Cherokee is a mid-sized SUV produced by the Jeep division of the American manufacturer Chrysler; the vehicle comes with a variety of engines to choose from. Knowing which engine is best for your needs is the key. The right type of engine for your automobile will allow you to attain better gas mileage and save you money in the long run. First, let's take a look at how engines are built to work.
Engines are built to provide power. In our society today, the motor vehicle is the place where that power is harnessed to move. Either forward, backwards, pushing or pulling the horsepower of the engine installed in that motor vehicle is what's doing the work. The engine is made up of several important parts. The fuel system, ignition system, exhaust system, the cooling system and the lubricating system all work to support the cylinder block, head, piston with the connecting rod, and the crankshaft.
Most domestic automobiles in the US are powered by an internal combustion engine. The internal combustion engine works by changing the heat energy of burning fuel into motion, thus using gas ...
... and air to create power. When fuel is burned it produces rapidly expanding gases. If these gases are produced in a contained area then they produce power by colliding into each other trying to escape. These gases drive the piston directly, making it move up and down while the cylinder is consistently filling with air and gas creating an explosion that again drives the piston while turning the crankshaft.
The fuel injection system works by releasing just the right mix of air and gas into the cylinder to then be compressed by the piston. As the piston compresses the fuel and air mixture it ignites causing the fuel to burn. The ignition of the fuel is sparked by an electronic trigger if the engine is computer-controlled. The exhaust system collects the burned gases from each cylinder using the manifold which passes it through a pipe out into the air.
The cooling system then works to get rid of the excess heat caused by the constant burning of fuel. A coolant takes up heat from the engine and passed it through the radiator. There is a fan attached to and powered by the engine that pulls air through the radiator which dissipates the heat into the environment. The lubricating system which is a pump that forces oil from the crankbase through tiny openings in the cylinder block to reach all the moving parts and to keep them loose and mobile.
Jeep offers a 3.6L Pentastar V6 engine with dual overhead camshafts. This engine offers a smooth driving experience, and it will deliver up to 565 miles on one tank of gas. Jeep also offers the 6.4L V8 engine that is designed for maximum traction and acceleration. This performance engine can go 0 - 60 in less than 4.8 seconds. It can tow up to 5,000 pounds.
