Anxiety Attacks - The Importance Of Family And Friends When You Have Anxiety!

Anxiety has a way of making you disconnect from those that care about you and those you care about. It is a creeping fear that makes you doubt yourself, heightens your discomfort and makes you feel awkward and inept.

After struggling with your fears, doubts and worries for so long and devoting substantial effort to keep them hidden from others because that´s what anxiety sufferers do, you are left exhausted and unable to muster the strength to interact with your family and friends.

Pretty soon, going out to dinner with your family becomes a chore, seeing your friends´ becomes a hassle and you would rather stay at home in comfort than deal with the struggle.

This scenario is one of the reasons so many anxiety sufferers become depressed. They feel cut off and alone and often have no one to talk to or confide in about their problems.

The shame and fear are the most overpowering emotions, leaving you to contend with your anxiety and panic attacks in private. It's important to have someone, at least one person to talk to about your situation.

... open, accepting and understanding people are than you thought they would be.
Someone who cares about you is not going to look at you like you have three heads if you tell them you can´t go to the theater because it makes you anxious.

However, don´t be a downer either, suggest an alternate plan where you could be comfortable and still interact with them, maybe playing ball in the park.

For many people, it´s the fear and humiliation that accompany a panic attack that makes it so unbearable. They are embarrassed by what their friends will say, whether people will laugh at them or think they are just plain crazy.

By explaining your problems to people you trust, this can often eliminate a lot of the shame and fear of humiliation because your loved ones will understand what´s happening when your symptoms strike.

Moreover, a lot of anxiety sufferers find that they can better deal with their problems when they have a trusted support person. If you are trying to overcome your fears through exposure therapy, where you incrementally expose yourself to that which you fear, having a support person can be of great assistance.

In addition, a lot of the relaxation techniques that can help you manage panic and anxiety work better when done with other people. Finding a partner to go to the gym with is a great way to reduce your anxiety, become more physically fit and get in a little bonding time.

Remember, spending time with your friends and family will also make you happier, help you lead a more fulfilled life and occupy your time, distracting you from your worries. Rely on your friends and family, you´ll be surprised at how supportive and accepting they can be. Don´t let anxiety turn you into a recluse. Get out and have some fun!
