Dealing With Headaches

Chances are everyone is going to have to deal with a headache at some point in their lives. But the common headache seems to have few curesâ€while people often visit their doctors complaining of headaches, they often leave the office with no miracle cure. The common headache can vary in how long it lasts, how intense it is, and where it is located. Sometimes, headaches are connected to sinus issues, while others are caused by medication. Women often have headaches in connection with their cycles, while those who ingest a lot of caffeine or alcohol may have headaches as a side effect.
Pain from a headache can occur in several different locations. It may be on the left, right, or both sides of your head. It can even occur in your neck or shoulders. Sometimes, you may experience pain in several different locations. In addition to the pain, you might also experience blurry vision, dizziness or vertigo, and even odd scents or tastes.
So how can you deal with horrible headaches? Well, the best way of handling a headache is to completely prevent it. The first thing to do is figure out what’s ...
... causing your headaches. Write down what you ate, what you were doing, and what you were exposed to before your headache formed. After doing this several times, you may see a pattern emerge. If you notice that you always ate the same kind of foods, for example, you may have a food allergy that you weren’t aware of. Sometimes, headaches accompany other illnesses, and in those cases, there may be nothing you can do to stop them.
In addition to food allergies, one of the most common causes of headaches is a reaction to pollen, mold, dust, and other such things. If you sleep with your windows open and start to notice you’re suffering from more headaches, you may be allergic to something outdoors. Likewise, if you get headaches after you vacuum, sweep, and dust, you may be breathing in something that is triggering a headache. Sometimes, headache triggers are seasonal, especially with pollen and mold. Make a note of any time of year during which your headaches seem worse and talk to your doctor about any medication that may help alleviate your allergies.
Stress can also be the cause of headaches. In fact, stress headaches can be some of the most painful headaches you ever experience. In this case, you need to look to the cause of the stress and do what you can to remove it from your life. If it’s stress that you can change, do your best to turn the situation into something less stressful. If it is something you have no control over, work towards accepting it. Once you do, you’ll notice fewer headaches.
Finally, exercising and eating a healthy diet can also help reduce headaches. Exercise improves your circulation, which in turn should help with the pain. Another suggestion is to avoid foods with preservatives since those who eat few preservatives seem to have fewer headaches.
