Choosing a career in veterinary medicine can be a rewarding profession for any who choose to work and care for sick or injured animals. In many ways it can be challenging as well as upsetting for both staff and animal owners. Many animals are as important to their owners as another human being would be so wishing for them to have a high quality level of care is no different to that of a sick or injured person.
Vet training can be a long time consuming process. For those seeking to become an animal surgeon, vet training can take up to five years to complete. Vet training for a veterinary nurse is also time consuming, but there is the option of full time training or work based training. Once qualified both veterinary surgeons and nurses are required to complete a level of continuous professional development. This is to enable the surgeon or nurse to evaluate their own knowledge as well as recognizing skills, which may require updating. Veterinary training will cover aspects of vet imaging. Vet imaging equipment includes a specialized MRI scanner, specifically designed for animals.
