Ko Chang
An island for those who want a little more than the offerings of the more tourist centric islands, Ko Chang is a rock that soars out of the sea, complete with jungle, rugged terrain and of course, many of its very own beaches. Located to the East of the Gulf Thailand near Cambodia, you won't find the regular sellers of knock off Ray-Bans and DVDs in a hurry, and the tourist hubbub is replaced by a more natural tranquillity. The island is home to an array of stunning wildlife that inhabits the scenery. Sea eagles, Andaman kites and hornbills all nest here, while you may even see a reticulated python if you venture inland! When visiting make sure you take on of the dirt pathways for a nature adventure.

Chang Mai
Chang Mai and the surrounding province of the same name are located to the north of the country. The city is one rich with history and culture, having being founded in 1296 while boasting more than 300 Buddhist temples and being surrounded by picturesque mountains. The most famous temple in the city is Wat Phrathat Doi Suthep, built in 1383 and offering superb views over the surrounding area. Chang Mai is also host of many Thai festivals. One of particular interest is Loi Kratong, which usually falls in November in the western calendar. Every year thousands of people float banana leaf containers onto the waterways of the city, while also launching sky lanterns into the air in a spectacular display.
