Travelers on the lookout for cheap travel deals, such as cheap airplane tickets and cheap vacation packages would be well advised to consider traveling to a beach resort on the East Coast, Mexico, or the Caribbean this fall.

Airfare and hotel room rates at beach destinations have dropped significantly from the peak summer months. For many the quiet relaxation and value of coastal destinations this time of year is more than worth the gamble of hurricane season.

• The Caribbean in the fall offers discounts of up to 30 percent when compared to winter which is its peak season. Hurricane insurance is available for those so inclined.

• The Mayan River, Mexico offers great fall deals. Most lodgings offer discounts ranging from 25 to 30 percent now through Thanksgiving. While the threat of hurricanes tends to lessen demand in the region this time of year, the sunshine and bargains often win out.
