You Are The Boss, Not The Dog

You might compare a dog to a TV remote control that must be programmed in order to work properly with a television. The potential is there, but without intervention, it is useless. Though dogs have an inner ability for training, someone needs to bring it out of them.
Multiple repetitions will be necessary for a dog to learn new commands. It's very likely to take many repetitions of one command in order for your pup to fully understand it. Continue repeating the same command with patience, and eventually your dog will learn it.
Keep your tone of voice consistent when training dogs. The tone should be firm, so your dog understands that you are issuing a command, not a suggestion. The dog will also know the difference when you give them discipline as opposed to a command.
Be patient when training a dog. This will keep you and your pupy from becoming frustrated or angry. Your dog will do its best, but give your dog enough time to remember orders. You need to remember that your puppy needs to form the association between the word and the behavior you expect.
Set small, easy goals when you start training ...
... your dog. Smaller, more easily learned behaviors are more likely to produce timely successes and a solid foundation for future training efforts. This gives you greater results when training.
Avoiding accidents entirely is the best way to toilet train a dog. Learn the signs that your dog needs to use the restroom. Some clues to watch for are snuffling, whining and pacing. Do not wait more than a couple of minutes. Put his leash on and take him to the place you wish him to go. Give him praise for proper toilet behavior. Over time, he will be able to signal to you his need to relieve himself.
As soon as you get your puppy, the first thing to teach him/her is their name; this will help build a bond between animal and human. Use their name often, and then teach them how to come to you when called. It is a good idea to have your puppy learn these words first. Spend a lot of time getting to know your pup, and building a loving relationship with him so he knows who to trust. This will help them become more receptive to harder training later.
To maintain solid behavior, lifelong training is important. Just because your dog isn't a puppy, it doesn't meant his learning stops. By continually reinforcing desired behaviors, your dog will continue to behave appropriately.
Ensure you frequently put your dog in social environments at an early age. Your dog must learn how to behave in the company of other dogs as well as humans. This is the best way to prevent sporadic behavior in these situations.
Regular challenges will keep your dog from losing his chops. Make sure you quiz him on the stuff he knows, so he stays on his toes.
Stop your puppy immediately if he is chewing on something he shouldn't. This teaches your puppy what is acceptable to chew, making it less likely that he will chew your belongings when you are not able to watch him closely.
With these tips you have been given, there is no need to put off dog training anymore. Put these ideas into play, and you can train your dog to do practically anything. Dogs love to please their owners. All they need is firm guidance to show them how to do it. Do it right away.
