No one in this world would have missed watching cartoon animation based short films in their childhood. But only some of them are aware of the basic cartoon program functioning. It is fundamentally based on 2D (traditional) and 3D animation technology.2D Animation is the creation of moving pictures in a two-dimensional environment in computerized animation software by sequencing successive images that reproduce motion among them in a gradual succession steps. 3D Animation refers to the creation of moving pictures in a three-dimensional digital environment similarly to that of 2D animation process but involves making film by a virtual “camera” which is then converted into animated video by a depiction engine thus giving a realistic effect to the ordinary videos.

The question may arise that both 2D and 3D animated videos are shown on a flat screen then on what basis they are categorized as 2D and 3D dimensional videos. It’s a very simple logic to understand. A 2D animation artist draws a character on a piece of a paper that only has 2 dimensions whereas a 3D ...
... animator develops his model in an effective three dimensional world i.e. on the specified computer program.

Sometimes watching a 3D animated movies or playing video games can make us to experience heading towards the new world, where everything is possible and the illusory seems to appear too factual. With the arrival of computer animation technology, special effects involved in movies and video games are flattering progressively into realistic and impressive means. Creating animations for video games is much diverse from creating animations for movies. The foremost dissimilarity is that a movie is intended to be viewed, while video games are proposed to interact. Hence, it is really very complicated to animate for video games as compared to animate for movies.

The work of 3D animators is almost similar to that of the puppeteer with only one difference that 3d artist possess more control on virtual 3d puppets and their work is instantly recorded in video format. The 3D animations are based on a conceptual theme which is further extended with designing features and animations flow called as storyboards. After having done with the object and character designing, lastly the sequences are delivered for getting evident output with compression which converts 3-D models bitmapped images into an animated video scene. One can also rewind his video to make some amendments in his animation if it does not decipher the exact reaction or sentiments. It may look as if it is a very simple and entertaining profession but in reality 3d animation is very multifaceted and complicated skill that need years of practice, creative aptitude and patience.
