There are a number of manufacturers using a variety of operating systems. But the most dominating versions of these OSes are Android and iOS. Since the beginning there has been a lot of competition between these two mobile operating systems. They are the major competitors in global mobile market.

Android: It is a Linux based open source operating system designed by Google for low-powered devices. Open source means users have maximum control over their devices i.e. Customization is possible. It provides smoother response while navigating across. It also gives device speed and stability. But one of the major pros and cons with iOS is that it is a closed source OS. It offers high level of security for the OS while having less control over the customization of the device.

User Interface: One of most significant differences that put iOS in lead is UI. Apple iOS offers much richer look than others. Because of its flexibility in switching animations.
Apple Store: It also has a huge collection of application.
Music: iOS has a dedicated store as iTunes, which is one of the best music libraries available all over the world.
Security: In terms of security as iOS is considered as closed source. It adds a security layer in the iOS.

Conclusion: Both Android and iOS are filled with lots of features. Specifically saying which one is better will be difficult. But for now Android seems to have bright future.
