Mobile technology is blooming with the availability of various platforms. And the competition in the market is very tough. Lets talk about the top three OSes in the market, as everyone is confused in the debate. Every OS platform has its own pros and cons.

Android: Google’s Android is one of the most famous operating systems available for the smartphones, tablets and other handheld devices. It is believed that it can beat both iOS and Windows Phone. Being an open source operating system, it supports third party applications. Android has been adopted by almost all the well known mobile device manufacturers. Android devices come in various shapes and sizes, which make them reachable for every common man. Application development in this platform is easy. It has support from a huge Android application development community. This has made Android a leader, and it has occupied the maximum share, 79.3% of the entire market.

iOS: iOS is one of the most prestigious, polished and popular mobile OS platforms. Before Android, ...
... iOS had maximum share in the market. It has easy to use interface, provides smooth scrolling. It posses closed source architecture and is way more secured than Android. It is considered to be one of the major competitors of Android. The main reason behind the falling of iOS is that it lacks content creation and productivity. Android offers extreme customization to the user but iOS don’t allow the same as it is a close-source OS. Being available at high price is also one of the major reasons behind the fall of iOS. Android devices are available in various shapes & sizes that mean there is something in every budget. iOS occupies 13.2% of the entire market. Like Android it also has a store, with a huge collection of applications for users.

Windows Phone: Microsoft owns Windows Phone OS. It has one of the most beautiful interfaces among other platforms. The operating system of windows phone is silky smooth and it also includes scrolling and launching of apps. Its major specialty is camera. Nokia with Windows have launched some of the best camera phones. It is the only platform that posses complete mobile version of MS office. In such a short time Windows is able to capture 3.7% of the shares by beating the Blackberry. Because of the tiny share in market, application developers take it as a last choice.

Among all the competitors out there, it would be great to see that which is going to increase its presence. Windows is also showing steady growth and it is said that it will achieve shares after sometime. Android phones usually provide support of updates for their phones for a year or more. This is where Windows is considered to be the best choice if one wants to use it for years. But again it lacks in the apps as Android has outnumbered collection of apps. iOS is also taking steps to gain the user interest back by lowering down the cost.
