A difference of thought that deviates from the customary may just start a revolution, and so it did. Apple Inc., earlier known as Apple Computer, Inc., is a multinational firm that was formed with an idea of innovation, and for a concept to be innovative it has to diverge from the conventional thought-processes that clutch us to mundanity and confine our imagination, Apple was aware of this truth.

Created on the 1st of April, 1976, Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak, the creators of Apple, have not made fools of themselves on this business and technological venture that all began with the release of Apple I, their first personal computer.

In time, with the evolution of computer technology, experimentation, and personnel dissents and assents, they gave birth to their first portable computer called the Macintosh Portable which was battery-powered. This piece of portable technology would go on to become an ancestor to the next step in this technology’s evolution and progress.

With the arrival of the 90’s, Apple went further with their modernistic endeavours by coming out with the PowerBook brand line, ...
... this trinity of subnotebooks included a 100, 140 and 170 model, all of which were released simultaneously, out of which the 170 was the most powerful of the lot that also contained an active matrix display.

Apple then followed up with a hybrid portable/laptop computer which was more slender and a lightweight in comparison to prior models. Holding minimal features, the PowerBook Duo was made with an inclination towards being imbedded into a docking station that would extend its video memory, connectors, storage space, and would provide a link to a monitor.

The mid 90s saw the advent of a higher grade of PowerBooks, the 500 series. This series had exclusive features such as DSTN, active-matrix LCD display, stereo speakers, PCMCIA slots and the first internal CD drive, touchpad/trackpad and inbuilt Ethernet networking. Apple stopped production of the PowerBook 500 on the arrival of the more sound PowerPC-Based PowerBooks, such as the PowerBook 5300.

The new range of PPC-based PowerBooks proved themselves a failure in the market despite their electronical edge over other laptops as many issues with regard to their dependability, consistency and security cropped up to the extent that the computers used to spontaneously combust due to an incompatible lithium ion battery. This fiasco was ingrained in the consumeristic perception of the product thereby becoming conducive to a dwindling revenue generation and deteriorating sales. Despite this stumbling setback Apple would go on to achieve mass commercial success and greatness in its future.

After the dire debacle of the PowerBook 500 series, the elder 90’s saw the rise of the G3 series. Precursors to the MacBook, MacBook Pro and MacBook Air which stand at the vanguard of modern notebook technology, the G3 series overtly emphasized on a fashionably curvaceous design.
The PowerBook G3 came in 3 different sizes of 12, 13 and 14-inch screens and varying processing speeds. It included floppy drives that were contained by dual drive bays, hard drives, CD-ROM/ DVD-ROM drives, as well as, extra batteries. This series would later be given more finesse by bringing out more advanced models such as the Lombard and the Pismo, that were sleeker, lighter and faster than their predecessors.

The dawn of a new millenium saw the arrival of the G4 series, also called TiBooks, they came in titanium exteriors, had a wide 15.2-inch screen, were very trendy, and consumed far less power than other laptops, all of which gave them due credibility. They came with a processing speed of up to 1 GHz.

In the following years, Apple Laptops witnessed an exponential improvement in notebook technology till PowerBooks were completely outdated and the birth of a new era of notebooks began with the MacBook, followed by the MacBook Pro which had better specifications than the former. These portable computers were immensely more mature and supreme in comparison to their forerunners.

Soon after, another exceptionally futuristic notebook by contemporary standards and a marvel of electronic creation had come to life and it went by the name of MacBook Air. This latest invention by Apple is the ultimate result of their decades of technological progress and commercial growth, and thus, the law of survivability has placed its pedestal beneath the prevailing wonder.
