Traveling Problems That Are Easily Ignored

People love traveling be it a domestic or foreign destination. A change of scenery now and then is always a good thing. Though problems may not arise when traveling domestically, when traveling to a foreign country there are a lot of problems that can occur. And if Murphy's Law ever taught me something, it's best to prepare because the worst can happen at the most inconvenience time.

Now though it may not apply to any law-abiding citizens, one thing that you should never do is to bring over any illegal drugs. Drug possession may seem like a slap in the wrist in the US if you compare it to the penalties in other countries around the world. In some countries just having even the miniscule amount can land you several years in the penitentiary.

However this also may include prescription medication, over-the-counter drugs, and even dietary supplements and vitamins that are completely legal within the boarders of the US that it may be downright illegal overseas. Another matter that tourists need to be wary of is the availability of medical treatment overseas. For developed countries outside of the US, many have governmental medical insurance. This means that rather than paying a private company for medical insurance, they instead pay it through their taxes. In so, those countries if you are in need of immediate medical attention, it may become difficult to receive due to two reasons. The first one mainly being the language barrier because not all hospitals may have an English speaking doctor available. The second reason being that though you may be insured within the US boarder, it may not apply to when you are overseas.

Many US citizens have had their vacations ruined when a serious medical complication arises. There are many stories where people needed to be flown back to the US boarders to receive their medical care because of the inability of the foreign country to supply the needs.

Another serious problem is that for those who decide to have a long vacation overseas is that it can become extremely expensive. However because of the fact that most people go traveling with a travel visa it becomes a huge problem. Though it may seem harmless to do some part-time work overseas to obtain some money for your travels, it is illegal and can end up with many complications. Such examples as the employer taking advantage of the situation because of the very fact that working overseas may be illegal and end up with many legal issues such as jail time, deportation and many other complications.

Which brings up another problem. Though it has been conveyed as a joke and to some even interesting, stories of people being deported might seem funny to many but it has some serious applications to those it many involve. Being deported isn't something that people should be laughing about because in the end it involves the person in question being banned from the country to a few years to indefinitely as well as having to pay for all the legal and traveling expenses that may have occurred.

So keep in mind that traveling can become a huge burden if it is not planned througoughly. Just keep in mind about Murphy's Law and make the appropriate measures that your dream vacation doesn't turn into a nightmare.
