In today's internet environment, Web 2.0 is something that is important to you, and can greatly affect your home business success. The key is to understand how it affects you, and how you can use that knowledge to your advantage.

In a nutshell, Web 2.0 refers to the social media environment. It is about connecting with people, and building relationships with those connections. It is an environment that is less about selling, and more about sharing information and expertise.

It starts with information. Whether it is by blogging, or writing and submitting articles, you need to provide information for people so they will start seeing you as an expert in your area. Unless they believe that you really know what you are talking about they will not trust you enough to buy from you.

Each blog post, or article, or HubPage, or Squidoo lens will contain a link that will lead your readers to your business website. When they are ready to learn more about you and what you have to say, they will use that link and get to your sales pitch.

One thing you have to realize before you start down this road; marketing in a Web 2.0 environment takes time. In order to make connections and build relationships you need to be willing to make a long term commitment. If you try to rush the process it will not work as well, and will actually end up taking longer to see the results you want. Take it slow, and concentrate on making connections.

Using social media is a great way to build a customer base for home business success. The more people you can make contact with and build strong relationships, the more potential customers you will have.
