You know what. You do not need the best dentist in your neighborhood nor the nest dental clinic, offering the best services. You just need to find the dentist that can jive well with you. I would like to call it chemistry. No, I am not talking about love and all it sappy implications. And I certainly am not talking about the chemistry subject kids study in high school. I am talking about that comfortable connection you have with your dentist. It is the kind of connection that makes your trips to your dental clinic worthwhile, other than your obvious satisfaction with your dental health of course.

Does he or she convince you to try out new stuff?

It may be that you were not a fan of dental floss or mouthwash maybe. However, because of your dentist, you are persuaded into trying these additional dental supplies. It can’t bring you any harm really. You will even thank your dentist for convincing you to try these dental care products—unless, of course, if you accidentally took too much mouthwash, and your mouth and throat ends up burning from the sting of the mouthwash. Are you comfortable to confess dental problems?

At times, there may be problems with our mouth, gums, or teeth that make us feel ashamed or embarrassed—bad breath perhaps or maybe gingivitis. You know you are comfortable with your dentist when you readily confess these embarrassing situations. There may even be a little bit of whining involved. It might also be that you even tell the story why to seek your dentist’s help to end these problems as soon as possible. Maybe somebody in your class pointed out your foul breath. Or maybe your gums bled while you were smiling in front of your crush.

Do you talk about other stuff aside from your dental health?

Those sample back-stories you read earlier? Those are the kinds of stories you tell your dentist while consulting for your dental health. You don’t even have to prepare any topic for conversation. You always talk spontaneously with your dentist as if you are talking to a family member. You may be talking about school or work or the guy / girl you have a crush on forever. Your dentist, in return, acts as an adviser and tells you stories of his or her own too.

Are your views on dental health the same?

The best way to know you are compatible with a person is when you have the same opinion about things. The heading for this section says dental health, but it does not really stop there. There is politics, literature, music, and a whole lot of other topics under the sun. The more interests you have in common, the more fun you will have every time you visit your dental clinic.
