Trust the Japanese to come with not one, but two winning optical component manufacturers. Nikon and Canon have always been the biggest names of photography for decades. Japanese ingenuity and dedication can be seen in all the products brought out by Canon Inc. The company was initially called Kyanon and it specialized in Image Processing items as well as Optical Products. Apart from these items, Kyanon also produced Cameras, Computer Printers, Recorders and Medical Equipment. The company is located in Ota, near Tokyo, Japan.

The actual name change to Canon happened in 1947 though it was then called the Canon Camera Co. It was shortened to Canon Inc. in 1969. The first ever Japanese 35 mm Camera, the Kwanon was produced by them back in 1934, and it was a focal plane shutter that became very popular in Japan. Takeshi Mitarai, Goro Yoshida, Takeo Maeda and Saburo Uchida were among the early founders of the world famous brand. Another popular device in the same category is the PowerShot A2300 compact camera. They are commonly designed for those who are still new to photography, or for those who are only looking for casual photography without all the added functions possible on an Advanced Point and Shoot or even a Full-Function DSLR. The A2300 comes with a 16 MP sensor assembly. The 5X Optical Zoom function allows for greater flexibility.
