Antipastoliterally translates into ‘before the meal’. An Italian custom, antipasto platters are enjoyed around the world as a delicious collection of various finger foods. Any authentic Italian meal starts with this tasty entrée, and then moves on to the rest of the courses. There are a lot of things that constitute to this dish and to get it just right, we should make sure that we follow the traditional. What does antipasto consist of? The variety is endless. One can either have Vegetable antipasto, or Meat and Cheese antipasto. Don’t get confused by the names. Vegetable antipasto does not guarantee you a strictly vegetarian dish, it just means that the vegetarian elements will be more than you would get in the alternative. However, if you wish opt for a strictly vegetarian antipasto, there’s no reason that you shouldn’t have one.
