If a spa day is something that you have done before, it likely you'll know how good you feel when you go home. They are not only beneficial for the body but they can also help treat the mind. The relaxing effects of a spa day help to remove toxins from the body and bring stress levels right down. They can however be a little expensive and given the current economy, treating yourself to a spa treatment at the local health spa may not be an option. You don't have to miss out though. You can recreate a mini spa experience in your very own home for next to nothing. Here's how -

Ambiance. Get the mood right and you'll stand the best chance of achieving a relaxed state. You are after a warm glow, which can be achieved by switching off any powerful lights and using candles dotted around the room. Make sure the room is warm enough, otherwise you muscles with tense up. You should put some soothing music on and also use some form of scent. Smell is one of our key senses and by lighting some incense or using fragranced candles, it can really help to calm the soul.

Wash. The first action to take when starting a spa treatment ...
... is to wash the skin well. This will remove and dirt and old skin cells and will open up your pores. don't work the skin too hard or try to exfoliate too extensively. Just wipe over all over the skin using a soft cloth and some clean water.

Facial. You don't have to always fork out lots of money for an expensive skin care facial. Natural ingredients that most people have in their home can often work just as well. Mix together honey, olive oil and the white of an egg, and then apply all over the face. Oil from olives is one of the best moisturizers around, honey works very well as an antiseptic and egg whites condition and tone the skin surface. Leave it on for about 15 minutes and wash off properly to reveal your new revitalised skin
