Fads Affect The Automobile Industry Too

By explanation fads and trends appear and vanish, and seem to affect all walks of life, including the automobile industry. Should you study car culture since the launch of the new millenium, you will find a number of interesting changes have taken place. The Nissan Altima, an extremely simple car if ever, may possibly have surprised you back in 2002 with its speediness if you test-drove one.
The 240 hp engine increased the speeds significantly from what there was during the 90s. Presently, there is a family car with 280 horsepower in the Volkswagen Passat. Smaller automobiles like the Mitsubishi, costing $30,000, are leaving Camaros standing. A Dodge Viper with its 500-horsepower is now just as average a car. You'll be hard-pressed today to find a car that was under-powered. Every new automobile model is definitely bigger than its predecessor. The present Honda Civics tend to be bigger than the older Accords, and the new Toyota Rav4 is longer than its forerunner by all of 14 inches.
Nobody seems to want to acquire the same car or less, yet still have to pay more money. When they are going to have to pay for it, ...
... they want their vehicles bigger and better. There is a disadvantage to bigger, obviously, and that's heavier, but car makers will keep on going bigger if that's what the public are looking for. The American community wish to spend less money on fuel, but it seems they won't tolerate going slower in the process. They'd rather shell out more and look forward to their hybrid car, the Prius from Toyota, which will allow them to keep going fast. Even though Corollas remain without a buyer in sight in the same dealer's showroom. In the dash by all vehicle makers to keep up, even pride appears to have taken a back seat, as in the case of Nissan with their Altima, which uses the same system as Toyota, their competitor.
The dull appearance of the 90s has disappeared, as consumers want cars with personality. Power steering, automatic windows, airbags and powerful sound systems being standard attributes are now par for the course. That is certainly most likely the reason for the average price of $28,000 for that new car you want. The SUV now looks like it's bought by silly people, so perhaps we are going back to the days when a car was a car. The biggest decline in sales has been amongst the bigger SUVs, so maybe it was just a fad whose time has come to an end. Wonderful are the sales and profits of smaller cars, even the Neon and Sentra, while the Ford Explorer and Expedition get very few sales.
Automotive companies can't stand still, but someday they need to quit needing to be so fast, and also so big. We're at the outset of the hybrid time now, and it will be interesting to see how it pans out. It's going to be fun to look back in several years time, and see all the ridiculous fads that came and went.
