Mismatch at this level is the first instance of discrepancy as well as the first indication of dishonesty. And, overlooking such facts increase the chance of becoming a victim of employee fraud.

In this fast paced and competitive world, candidates are often found in a ‘man eats man’ situation. This makes the candidates competing for a job more desperate to bag the opportunity, which can lead the person to take a wrong route to reach the goal.

No matter what the intention be, an organization cannot encourage such behaviour not only on moral grounds but also because the discrepancies caused due to such actions can cost the company greatly. Hence, the recruitment strategy should be a mix of idealistic and realistic features and expectations. While bulk hiring may be a requirement, verification process should be given its due time so in order to render it efficient and effective.

For instance, for technical job roles, verification of the individual's technical credentials are definitely important; however, a thorough check into addresses and criminal records are also equally important. The importance stems from the fact that authenticity of an employee helps the company in ensuring that a person with a clean past and with enough integrity is hired so that it doesn't have to deal with the person's fraudulent actions later nor does it have to bear extra costs pertaining to plausible legal hassles or the obvious replacement costs.

Giving background screening policy its due importance is one of the best things a company's HR professionals can do for effective results. With such points taken into consideration while planning out a recruitment strategy, it will only result in delightful hiring experience for the company.
