The people who offer online Excel training find themselves having to deal with two major costs. We will be trying to answer question as to what exactly those two costs incurred by the people who offer Excel training online are. We will also be trying to understand how the costs are incurred. Further, we will be trying to answer the question as to what the justifications for the respective costs are. All this is important, given the fact that many of the people who are told that they have to pay for the Excel training that is offered online tend to feel as if they are being fleeced. You can’t blame them: for we have been conditioned (from the most formative stages of our digital lives) to believe that stuff that is offered through the web should be accessible to all and sundry, at absolutely no charge. But it becomes tricky for many of the people who offer properly structured Excel training online to offer the training free of charge, because, as we will be seeing shortly, they have to incur certain costs. And for the most part, the only way they can recoup their monies is by charging the people who seek the Excel training ...
... online. So that is how we end up with fees having to be paid for the Excel training that is offered online (though admittedly, in most cases, the fees charged are lower than those associated with the Excel training offered under the traditional classroom model).
Without further ado, the two key costs dealt with by the people who offer online Excel training are:
1. The cost of preparing the training materials: normally, the people who are keen on offering online Excel training find that they have to engage folks who are experts in Excel to prepare the training materials. The experts have to be paid handsomely for them to do this sort of work: being typically folks who prefer working with Excel, as opposed to explaining how Excel works. Sometimes, the experts in question take the whole piece of work as a single project, and are paid on that basis. At other times, the experts in question are paid per hour. Either way, immense costs are incurred.
The justification for this particular cost is in the fact that the people offering Excel training have to pay their own experts to prepare training materials. Otherwise if they opted to use the easy way out and simply adopt other Excel training materials available elsewhere on the web, they’d probably end up be accused of copyright infringement.

2. The cost of interacting with the learners online: this is where the people offering online Excel training find that they have to pay web hosting costs. These can be immense, especially in cases where the training is offered through videos which consume a lot of bandwidth. The justification for this cost is in the fact that failure to incur it would mean that the people in question would have no mechanism for interacting with their students. Often, the people offering online Excel training also have to pay for the domain names under which they offer the training. Then they have to incur promotional costs: through either web-based advertising or search engine optimization. Individually, some of these things may be quite cheap. But the costs do eventually add up to considerable sums of money.
